About us
The Actor’s Truth, established in 2017, offers workshops led by renowned acting coach and actor Saurabh Sachdeva.
More than just an acting academy or a production house, The Actor’s truth strives to bring out the best of performances. Saurabh Sachdeva founded this institute with an aim to work on the core issues an actor faces while performing. With a strong belief in the phrase, “Acting Is Doing”, we mould our students with extreme sensitivity. As an actor, one should understand aspects of both ‘Being’ and ‘Doing’. We have sketched out a curriculum which helps an actor to bring about a change in the awareness about himself and his thoughts.
While we started with a one-month course, we realised that the biggest hurdle an actor faces is the lack of opportunity to express himself and perform at the same time. In order to bridge this gap, we provide our students with a platform wherein they get a chance to perform even after the workshop ends.
For a month, post the workshop, we monitor their performances and provide them with value added feedback (Yes! Free of cost) by the invited audience. They also get an opportunity of being spotted by the casting assistants of reputed agencies.
Well, we don’t just stop here! We pick some of the dedicated actors from the first workshop and put them into an advanced learning program. During the program, they are actively directed for a professional theatre play. After Foundation (level 1) and Advance Workshop (level 2) we have our most intense workshop (level 3) where we train students for auditioning and acting for the camera. We take accountability of them and work on real world issues they are facing in getting work out there.
On 30th June, 2017, we had our first in-house production – “What The Butler Saw”, by Joe Orton at the Sophia Bhabha Auditorium, Mumbai. Our second theatrical play Bichhoo by Moliere was held at Iskcon Auditorium which was another success.
With our first two plays having been a major success we hope to continue with many more and bring out great performances by our students on a big stage!

Offline Workshop
Core Acting Mastery
We believe that acting is not just a skill but a profound journey of self-discovery and expression. Our Offline Mastery course is designed to lay the groundwork for this journey, offering an intensive, interactive experience that will transform the way you approach acting. Over the course of two months, you will delve into the techniques of two legendary acting coaches, Eric Morris and Stephen Book, exploring the concepts of Being and Doing.
First Month: Intensive Training
Each four-hour session is divided into three distinct parts:
1) Eric Morris – Being
Explore the fundamentals of Eric Morris’s approach to acting, focusing on “Being.” This technique emphasizes authenticity and emotional truth, teaching you to connect deeply with your experiences and emotions in every given moment.
2) Body Movement
Engage in body movement exercises designed to help you become more aware of your physical presence and its impact on performance. Through improvisational activities, you’ll learn to express fully through your body, culminating in a performance at the end of the month.
3) Stephen Book – Doing
Learn Stephen Book’s “Doing” technique, focusing on action – outer and inner. This approach teaches you how to drive a scene forward with great involvement, scope for spontaneous improvisation while keeping you active and engaged in your performance.
4) Assignments –
Post class activities like shooting videos, analysing stories and structures to sharpen the tools learnt in class.
The Performance Experience:
Second Month: Performance-Based Application
After a month of intensive training, you will move into a performance-based phase where you put what you’ve learned into practice. During this month, you will:
Write and Improvise
Collaborate with peers to write and develop short plays through improvisational exercises, integrating the techniques of Being and Doing into your storytelling.
Perform
Stage your short plays in front of a live audience, gaining invaluable experience and feedback to refine your skills and grow as an actor.
Duration: 1 Month of Intensive Classroom Training + 1 Month of Performance-Based Application

Online Workshop
Core Acting Mastery

Our Online Mastery course is designed to lay the groundwork for this journey, offering an intensive, interactive experience that will transform the way you approach acting. Over the course of one month, you will delve into the techniques of two legendary acting coaches, Eric Morris and Stephen Book, exploring the concepts of Being and Doing.
We work in tandem with our offline course, incorporating interactions and live feeds of the coaches and students from our studio in Mumbai. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to provide a balanced blend of theory and practical application, ensuring you not only learn the techniques but also apply them in practice as an actor.
Structure for the Month: Intensive Training
Each four-hour session is divided into three distinct parts:
1) Eric Morris – Being

2) Literature – Reading and Writing
Learn to analyse stories in depth and take creative choices, culminating in using all the acting tools to improvise, design, design and perform a solo piece at the end of the course. This will specifically include practical application of Stephen Book’s “Doing” Work.
3) Stephen Book – Doing
Learn Stephen Book’s “Doing” technique, focusing on action – outer and inner. This approach teaches you how to drive a scene forward with great involvement, scope for spontaneous improvisation while keeping you active and engaged in your performance.
4) Assignments –
Post class activities like shooting videos, analysing stories and structures to sharpen the tools learnt in class.
Duration: 1 Month of Intensive Classroom Training

TEAM
Gaurav Puri
Gaurav has been working as an acting coach for the last 12 years. He worked with a Singapore-based startup to train applicants for auditions to BFA programs in acting and film in the US and UK. He is also a certified Expressive Arts Therapy practitioner and counselor, specializing in drama and music therapy. Gaurav runs our weekly community-building practice called “Actor’s Anonymous,” where students come weekly to share their life experiences, whether good or bad, and to increase community feeling and bonding through various therapeutic practices such as games, music, conversations, writing, and painting.
Akshay Alok
An actor, theatre practitioner & acting coach. Having performed over 100 devised theatre shows in Educational, Corporate and Public sectors. Akshay is trained in different acting techniques amongst which is Stephen Book that he teaches at the institution. He also heads the theatre initiative of The Actor’s Truth called Antarang which provides platform for our students to perform.
Shilpa Sinha
From the black-and-white world of law to the colourful world of acting. From being a student at The Actor’s Truth to becoming a mentor and working with the students on their bi-weekly theatre performances and the film making process. She has also appeared in various TVF shows, i.e Girls Hostel on Sony Liv. She has also walked the runway for Wendell Rodericks, Narendra Kumar and Veromoda at Lakme Fashion week
Sanika Ghaisas
After her architecture degree, Sanika chose to create characters and not buildings. She has been with The Actor’s Truth for 5 years and has trained more than 1000 students on physical and virtual platforms. Her stage experience includes nine productions in Hindi, Urdu and English including leading roles in “Innocence” (Prithvi house, 2018), “Javeda” (2019) and “Stop Kiss” (Mukti Manch, 2020). She has played pivotal characters in the Netflix show “Little Things” and a Marathi film “Luckee” and has also hosted a Marathi celebrity talk show called “Taare Aple Saare”.
She works strongly on reading, writing and story analysis for the students and actively mentors our online workshop.
Sucuri
Sucuri, also known as Sunil Singh, is a Capoeira instructor based in Bandra, Mumbai. He actively promotes Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art, and has been featured in various events showcasing his acrobatic skills. His contributions extend to community activities, including involvement in climbing events and social campaigns.
At The Actor’s Truth, he ensures that students become well-acquainted with their bodies through music, rhythm, and dance. He focuses on enhancing their strength, awareness, flexibility, and mind-body coordination, and also teaches them teamwork.
Elzo Jacob
Elzo’s passion for acting began in first grade, where his performance as a tree sparked his love for the stage. Transitioning from a Biotechnology engineer to an actor and coach, Elzo has participated in over 50 performances as an actor, director, and scriptwriter.
He trained at The Actor’s Truth, earned a Diploma in Film Acting under Mr. Barry John, and attended various workshops with esteemed teachers. At The Actor’s Truth, Elzo specializes in the Stephen Book Technique, guiding both Foundation and Advanced students and nurturing their creativity in Dance Drama performances. Additionally, he assists in the admissions process, helping prospective students join the educational community.
Saahitya Pansare
From pursuing his education to finally following the pursuit of his passion. MBA degree, a marketing firm, a Gladrags accolade and 2 years of experience in theatre. From working under the aegis of Zeeshan Ayyub’s theatre group Being association to working in a television series on Colors. The journey for Saahitya has been as unique as the number of functions he performs at The Actors Truth. Once a student of Actors Truth and now a team member. Today he handles the marketing, accounts and administration for the company.
Sourabh Sharma
After graduating at Mumbai University in Marketing he began working as a bank officer at a prominent bank. However, his passion for acting never wavered and he decided to pursue it full-time. In November 2021, he started his acting career with the actors truth.
At The Actors Truth, Sourabh serves as a course advisor, where he is responsible for the overall admission process of the institute. His role includes reviewing applications and helping to select the best candidates for the program. Alongside this, he is also working on himself and his craft, honing his skills as an actor in order to achieve his goal of becoming a successful actor.
Akash Verma
Akash, a skilled actor and seasoned industry editor, boasts over a decade of experience. Driven by storytelling and excellence, he’s garnered acclaim from Hollywood directors and US clients. Beyond acting and editing, he’s self-taught in cinematography. His portfolio spans directing, producing, and experimenting with film.
Akash is responsible for our online presence. He handles all the shooting, designing, and editing of our content, and he helps students with their short films. A true filmmaker, Akash’s multifaceted expertise enriches The Actor’s Truth team.
